Blackbox Studio
At the Black Box Theatre, we make theatre from the world’s most powerful stories; stories that help us see the world in new and unexpected ways. The Black Box Theatre Studio is a 90 seat, flexible space that changes with each production, widely regarded as one of the most exciting spaces to see and create work in Chennai city.
Over the course of a typical year, we produce up to 6 productions at the Black Box theatre studio each running multiple times over a period of three months/12 Weeks. Here we present work produced by our own theatre company, Alchemy Theatres, alongside touring productions by leading theatre companies across the country, as well as performances from community partners and young people. Our programme ranges from much-loved classics and ambitious revivals, to brand new plays and razor sharp writing from rising talent.
Over the past year, we’ve worked with some of the most exciting artists, creators, writers, directors and theatre groups in Chennai alongside incredible young actors from our theatre academy which gives us immense joy and pleasure

The space can be used for performances, discussions, workshops, chamber concerts, music gigs, rehearsals, art exhibitions, open-mics, story-telling sessions,photography, advertisements and video shoots etc.
Being a studio with complete black interiors and upholstery, it gives the artist absolute control over light where video recordings and photo captures are of high quality.
Sound quality, clarity and high-end acoustics, make this space an ideal one for music and dance recordings, and video shoots.

Being a minimalistic space, working with the décor and props is easy and adaptable.
